Testnet, week one

By Zecnero ·

The pool pays every 15 minutes again, cpuminer-rplant and SimpleMining OS can mine Zecnero, and a warning: there is no presale and no private deal.

The public testnet started on September 24. This post covers its first week: a fix to the pool’s payouts, the numbers so far, new places that support Zecnero, and a warning about scams.

The pool pays again

The pool runs a payout round every 15 minutes. Coins from a block must be shielded before they can be spent, so each round also shields the coins of blocks that have matured. The pool had stopped paying because every round shielded the new coins and then stopped, before it reached the payouts. Balances grew, and nothing was paid.

The fix, on September 29, changes the order: a round pays first, then shields. The balances that had built up went out in one catch-up payout, #13, at 22:22 UTC on September 29: 6,356.43 ZMR to 6 miners.

Every round since has paid. As of 22:37 UTC on September 30, from the pool’s public API:

  • 94 payouts since #13, 3,407.23 ZMR in total. The last one was sent at 22:36 UTC on September 30.
  • 17,189.47 ZMR paid by the pool since it opened, in 107 payouts.
  • 21 miners paid.

Your own payments, with a link to each transaction on the explorer, are on https://pool.zecnero.org/miner/YOUR_ADDRESS.

The chain so far

As of 22:37 UTC on September 30, from the explorer’s API:

  • Height: 6,920.
  • Hashrate: about 11.2 kH/s, averaged over the last 120 blocks.
  • Difficulty: 679,543 hashes per block on average, 82.95 times the minimum.
  • Mined supply: 43,250 ZMR, 0.206% of the 20,999,993.5652 ZMR that will ever exist.
  • Founder stream: 3% of each block’s subsidy, 0.1875 ZMR, until the first halving at block 1,680,000.

Testnet coins have no value.

New support

Beware of scams

There is no presale, no OTC deal and no private allocation of ZMR. Nobody from Zecnero will send you a direct message offering coins. Anyone who does is not from the project.

The only allocation is the founder stream, written into consensus. Every node checks it in every block. The FAQ and the fair launch section explain it.

An announcement about a testnet network upgrade follows in the next few days. Questions are welcome on Discord and GitLab.
